One of Those Days

Have you ever had one of those days when you just feel like nothing's going your way? Like nothing you're working on is working? Or like nothing will ever work out the way you want it to?

Sometimes, no matter how much we think we are practicing positivity and gratitude, those old familiar fears, doubts and worries can sneak up on us, ambush us and bonk us over the head with their yucky negativity.

How do I know this? Haha, very funny. Yeah I know this very well because yes, it sometimes even happens to me! In fact, it just happened to me yesterday. Yes, really!!

Yes, even though I just celebrated my birthday on Monday -- during which so many people made me feel so special and I was reminded again of all the amazing love in my life -- I still had a crappy day after the birthday. Maybe it was just the letdown after experiencing so much special attention on my birthday (LOL) or maybe I just let myself be overtaken by that old Bermuda Triangle of fear, doubt and worry... Either way, the results were less than stellar.

Here's the thing:

On one hand, my life feels pretty charmed, even including the fact that I just spent six months dealing with (and BEATING!) cervical cancer. That fact is included because I feel I've been given an incredible opportunity to decide what I really want out of life AND experience an amazing amount of love and support from my community.

On the other hand, a bunch of new stress-mongers keep knock-knocking at my door, growing louder and more insistent every day. For example:

  • Since the end of January, my health has taken a small step backwards, with weird uncomfortable digestive issues and renewed fatigue topping the list. A new battery of tests this week (abdominal CT scan included) and a follow-up PET scan in Boston top that fun list. Hoping for easily fixable results from all of the above. Cross your fingers for me please!
  • My quest for new income sources has yielded several enticing bites but nothing solid as yet. Hey, if you're looking for writing, marketing or accountability help for your business, I'm your gal (and I'm having a sale this month)! ^^ Just click on that blue link ^^ for more info!
  • The waiting game continues with other payouts like insurance and my tax return...
  • Meanwhile, next month's bills loom ahead and this weekend is Celia's final college audition, in NYC of course!

As you can see, if I'm not careful, these little buggers can spiral out of control and become big scary monsters (kinda like they did yesterday...). Who needs that, right?? Not me!!

So, I work EVERY. DAMN. DAY. to stay in gratitude, because I know that worry won't solve a thing. In fact, it makes everything WORSE. And I know that remaining focused on the positive in my life is not just the best but the ONLY way to keep moving forward.

These are my top remedies for keeping the scary monsters at bay and staying grateful when you're having one of those crappy, icky, negative, scary days:

1) Pull out your favorite inspirational book and READ IT
Those inspirational writers know a thing or two about helping you feel better.

2) Talk to your bestie
There is nothing like a good old fashioned chat with your best friend to help you see things more clearly and make you feel better in no time at all. (Thanks, Angel and Celia! xoxo)

3) Find as many silver linings as you can
For me, the silver lining of a dark cloud represents the most beautiful, most subtly shimmering strand of joy that can be extracted from an otherwise awful situation. Seek and you shall find it.

4) Distract and conquer
Distract yourself by doing something fun! Crank up your fave tunes and have yourself a dance party!! Color a page of your most beautiful coloring book. Pull out your old photo files (paper or digital, it doesn't matter) and reminisce about the good old days. Go bowling!! Whatever floats your boat.

5) Make a list
Think about all the many, many things you're grateful for and write that shit down. Start with the air you breathe and keep going until you can't think of a single thing anymore. If you don't keep one already, start a gratitude journal or jar or box so you can go back and look for inspo on other days like this one -- because they will come up every now and again.

6) Help someone else
Helping a friend or a pet in need can really help you focus on something else while simultaneously helping you realize that maybe you don't have it so bad, after all.

7) Get your sweat on
Yeah, that PhD in body movement really comes in handy at times like these. See #4, Dance Party.

8) Create a vision board
If you haven't done this yet, I highly recommend this incredibly fun and relaxing way to bring your goals and dreams to life, either on paper or digitally, like on Pinterest. I personally use both media! Pinterest is always at the ready on my phone, useful whenever I'm waiting in line or waiting for an appointment. And there is just something so juicy about creating a paper vision board that really gets me jazzed! So much so that I'm leading a vision board workshop next Friday night, March 2nd at Innerglow Yoga in Mashpee! Check below for details!

Have you heard?? February is my birthday month, so I've dropped all the prices in my online Emporium for the whole month! Most of the digital/audio items are on sale for just $5 each -- including my popular Fight the Fright ebook.

But the juiciest discount is on my private telephone coaching service -- only $50/hr (my top hourly rate is normally $300). That means if you book your hours with me during this month, you can book as many as you like at just $50 -- and use them all year long!

Take a look at www.pamelacwills.com and check the offers, they're pretty sweet! Happy February!

Hey there! I'm Ringleader Pam!

It's true that many years have seen many hats on my head, but one thread makes them all part of one unique collection: my passion for story.

More than 25 years of experience in writing and editing, public relations, sales and marketing, social media, networking, teaching, public speaking and yes, even dance and choreography fill this gal's cocktail shaker of a life -- definitely shaken, not stirred -- and give me the ability to serve up exactly what my clients need.

Whether it's written content, sales and PR/marketing help, confidence boosts, a great speech, accountability and mentoring or dance lessons for the movement shy, my glass-overflowing positivity, optimistic attitude and contagious enthusiasm for my clients' successes took many years of many tries and fails to cultivate -- a success story of my own that has thankfully won me thousands of admiring fans! Want more? Download your FREE report at www.pamelacwills.com today!

HOW is it February ALREADY??

IMG_1986.JPG

I can't believe it's already February, can you?? Where did January rush to?? Raise your hand if you also feel like the first month of 2018 whooshed by in a blur...

Though we were only away for about 9 days, for me the biggest part of January was the trip to NYC my daughter and I took so that she could perform at her college theatre program auditions at NYU Tisch and Juilliard. Wow, what an epic week that was! She's an incredibly confident young woman and I admire her courage and determination soso much. She slayed her performances and felt great about the work she delivered. Two more auditions to go! Then we wait... until sometime during the end of March for the offers to start rolling in!

As for me, I'm super happy to say that not only did I survive our week in the Big Apple, but I actually managed to average about 9,000 steps per day, sometimes even with luggage! Can you believe it?? Of course, this week I've been feeling incredibly exhausted -- wow, I am soooo out of shape!! -- but I managed. We took the subway pretty much everywhere, saw four or five different areas of the city, somehow received free tickets to see the NYC Ballet (Balanchine!) and just really enjoyed our time together. We are so lucky and grateful for all the help we received from family and friends to make it happen financially and logistically.

Now that we're back home, I'm catapulting back into real life! I have to admit, it's a bit daunting to view my brand new life from this juncture, where I'm standing at Point A, looking towards Point B and not entirely sure how to get from one point to the other. Sure, it's exciting to have the chance to re-imagine everything! And I've done a ton of imagining and planning and strategizing over the past months. But somehow, a solid bridge between the two points has not yet materialized...

Has something like this ever happened to you? If so, I'd love to hear about it! You're among the first to know that I'm launching a podcast very soon, all about overcoming obstacles. It's called Hard Candy: Even Life's Toughest Moments Can Be Sweet and it's gonna be amazing!! Stay tuned...

Meanwhile, since February is my birthday month, I've decided to slash all the prices in my online Emporium for the whole month! Most of the digital/audio items are on sale for just $5 -- including my popular Fight the Fright ebook.

PS: Thankfully, I've sailed through my initial recovery phase after spending the fall fighting cervical cancer. As you know, I’ve been working hard on new ways to support Celia and myself financially going forward. These next few weeks are critical as our funds have mostly run out and my income has not yet reignited... It would help a ton if we could reach our fundraising goal to get us through this crunch time. Any help you can give would be super amazing and appreciated!!

Have Tea with Me?

You know, it’s sooo true that I’ve been kinda starved for social contact lately! Hanging around the house in my pjs trying to boost my blood counts has been a real drag, tbh. Ugh I miss being out and about with you guys!!!

Thankfully, my bestie Angel Quintana gave me a great idea the other day during our weekly telephone catch up / mastermind: She thought I could get a little social by chatting with you all via video, so I took her advice! It really helped!

Here’s the clip (just click on the picture to view):

And here’s the link to my blog that I talk about in the video chat:

You know, gratitude is so very important to me, now more than ever. It’s the main thing getting me through my temporary health challenge this fall!! Thanks again to all of you who have supported me -- emotionally, financially, socially, and spiritually!! If you haven’t had a chance to contribute yet, it’s not too late. Please consider helping us reach our goal. Every little bit really does help! Here's the link to our crowdfunding page: www.youcaring.com/pamela-wills

Love is in the Air Again

I don't know about you, but my emotions have been running on HIGH ALERT all week. Whether it's hormonal, political or cosmological, it still has the same effect: STRESS!

According to my supersmart healer pals, the antidote is self love. They say that however we can approach a situation -- any situation -- from a place of love is the way to find peace and healing. This makes a ton of sense to me, so I am practicing a new mantra that goes something like this:

Love instead of fear. Love instead of hate. Love, love, love, love, love.

So far, it's working! Love is in the air!

Do you feel it?

I've been thinking about love lately... a lot. It's February! The month of love... And you know what they say about love... Love is in the air. Love is the question and the answer. Love me or leave me. Love is all you need. All you need is love. Love isn't love until you give it away. Love thy neighbor. Love is a battlefield. Love and money. For the love of God. Love is a many splendored thing. Love has many faces. Love has no limits. Love will find a way. Love your Self!

Well, as you can see, I've been counting the ways. =)

This month, by right of Saint Valentine is dedicated to the most complex, famous, wonderfully exciting emotion, both noun and verb in one. Get comfy, take a seat because I'm here to help you start unraveling this puzzle this month. Today, it's all about the questions...

BTW, if you want more love and attention for your career, you really oughtta check my community of artists, for artists -- The Guild, espesh if you've been dying to connect with other like-minded performers for encouragement and accountability, The Guild is THE place for you! Raise Your Hand

Raise your hand if you're feeling like the end of 2016 cannot arrive fast enough!

Raise your hand if you are jonesing for a major change of wallpaper and new perspective!

Raise your hand if you are currently hunting down moto and inspo like your life depends on it!

TAG ME raising three hands over here.

Yes, 2016 has been quite the action packed collection of months. There were miles and miles of crazy ups and downs, twists and turns, peaks and valleys. Amiright??

Usually, I take time at the end of the year to give tips about how to manage holiday stress syndrome -- you are familiar with the symptoms, I'm sure. But this week, I just want to suggest that you take a few moments to congratulate yourself for surviving (and maybe even thriving in) the past tumultuous 11 months.

Once you've done that, might I also suggest that you take a further few moments to map your strategy for 2017? A big year lays ahead of us, with lots of impending changes, including a numerological shift from the past nine year cycle to the next, new nine year cycle.

Why is this important? Mainly these extra bits of information serve to give us clues about how we can manage the future, how we can find firm ground to stand on when the unknown rushes into our lives and how we can find success in our careers and relationships despite the unknown variables we inevitably must deal with.

That's why I use things like numerology and astrology. They help me to manage the unknown and give me that all important moto and inspo I crave so much.

Here's another way I'm prepping for the new year and new cycle: I am clearing out piles of clutter in my home office and renovating that space completely. And I am so excited about it! Clearing out clutter is one of my fave ways to get motivated.

Finally, my daily method of keeping myself motivated involves changing up my style. You may have seen my shorter, darker hairstyle recently. You may have also heard that I've put myself on an intermittent fasting program to reduce my sugar cravings. You may have also heard that I'm following my dance passion into all kinds of projects, including dancing the tango with my new friend Dr. Molly Sullivan for Cape Wellness Collaborative's Dancing with the Docs in March 2017! More on that later...

Meanwhile, tell me your fave ways of staying motivated and inspired, I'd love to hear all about it!

And meanwhile, ask me anything! I'd love to feature your questions on my Ask Ringleader Pam page! Just hit reply and ask away!

Lemons, Passion and The Waiting Place

"Living the Dream" is an expression many of us often use sarcastically, sometimes with an added dash of ennui, cynicism, even regret. As if the idea of dreaming is the biggest joke on the planet. As if the idea of pursuing our dreams is completely ridiculous. It's an expression that serves to numb our passions, dumb down our goals and make it okay for us to forget about them, give up on them.

Well I say it is NOT okay!! Self deprecating humor is the quickest way to turn our fresh delicious hopes and dreams into moldy old leftovers that no one wants anymore. Why do we do this to ourselves? Why do we give up on our most precious dreams just because achieving them isn't always easy?

Giving up is lame. Keeping on is where it's at.

Keeping our passions fresh and front of mind keeps us young, vibrant and alive. Those passions drive us forward and push us to grow and improve. They bring us new experiences, new lessons and new connections. Why would anyone want to give up on all that goodness??

What about you, are you still feeling fresh about your creative passions? Do you still get excited about turning the lemons life sometimes throws at you into sweet lemonade? Would you still rather follow your dreams than stay miserable working for someone else's dream? Are you living your own dream yet?

Lots of big questions, I know. I realize none of it is easy, believe me. Just a few short years ago, I was there in The Waiting Place, too. You know, like The Waiting Place in Dr. Seuss' classic, Oh! The Places You'll Go!

Also known as "I love my job, I love my job, really I do!"...

You might even be waiting if you're running your own business. You might be playing small, avoiding opportunities to grow. You might just be afraid to grow. Growth means change and change can be scary. I know. I get it.

Here's my advice: Grow anyway. Change anyway.

Change is going to happen, whether you like it or not. Whether you direct the flow or just let it happen to you. I guarantee that! So why not put yourself in the driver's seat? Why not jump right in and push yourself to grow and change?

Make your own choices instead of letting the choices choose you.

Make the decisions yourself before the hard decisions become even harder and start to chase you down. Make the changes before the changes happen to you, blindside you, throw you for a loop. Because they will.

#followyourdreams

3 Easy Ways to Grow Your Creative Business

It's finally springtime here on Cape Cod and that's got me thinking about all kinds of new ideas and growth strategies. How about you? Are you thinking about how to grow your sales in the second half of 2016? Have you considered your plans for expanding your fan base this year?

If so, good for you!! I'm so happy you're on your game!

If not, I think it's time we have a chat. Once you've read this post, click on the link below that says, "Schedule Free Chat" and we'll find a time to have a conversation about your strategy. No charge. Do it for yourself and your talent!

Okay, let's get right to it. I'm throwing three easy growth strategies at you today. Ready?

1) Dream up three ideas daily
Keep a journal or an Evernote file (my fave!) and jot down THREE ideas every day that can help you make more money, expand your fanbase, increase your sales, boost your productivity, gain you more recognition, connect you with more people, etc. It doesn't matter how wild or how impractical the ideas get, just log them! You'll find many gold nuggets along the way that you can implement.
Easy.

2) Network network network
Get out there and talk about yourself and your work! Online and offline. Everywhere you go. Every time something related comes up, talk about what you're working on. Not like a pain the elbow would do! Just be excited about what you're doing, authentically excited. Or talk about how challenging a particular project is turning out to be. Tell stories about yourself and your work. People love stories! If you're not comfortable doing this, understand that it's important for you to GET comfortable doing it. Trust me, it doesn't happen overnight; it's a process. I can help you with it because I went through it myself and I help every single one of my clients through the same process.
Easy, eventually!

3) Consider personal growth
When you allow yourself to grow as a person, you will be amazed at how your business follows suit. For example, when you work on your fitness and healthy eating habits, the rest of your life seems to fall right into line as well. When you study the law of attraction, the law starts to become apparent in everything you do, business included. When you step into bigger shoes and take on leadership responsibilities, you start to receive more offers to be a leader. Try it.
Super simple.

There you have it! Try these three easy strategies and let me know how they work for you.

Leadership Seminar Recap

Did you miss my live seminar on leadership that I did for the Holistic Fashionista Academy last week?

No worries, I'm going to recap it for you right here today. And if you want to get in on all the rest of the juicy expert seminars happening this month, just follow this link and sign up for FREE!

In my seminar last week, I talked with my pal Angel Quintana (CEO of Holistic Fashionista) about leadership and how it has become an essential element of my business growth. We also discussed how creative entrepreneurs like you can tap into your leadership skills to grow your own business.

In the seminar, we offered three main points:

1) Start off by owning your passion and mission
Call yourself by your name: If you're an Artist, shout it out loud! If you're the CEO of your own business, say it! If you're at the top of your game, call yourself a leader! You have to step into those bigger shoes and assume the mantle. Walk the talk, right??

2) Next, decide on your cause/mission
Decide on your purpose so you don't end up like another rebel without a cause. Your mission is your rocket fuel and will keep you motivated for the long haul.

3) Last but not least, get out there and talk it up!
No one will know what you're working on if you don't talk about it. Network, network, network -- both online and offline. The more you talk about your purpose, the easier it gets. The more you advocate for your cause, the more attention you will get for it. The more you promote your mission, the more people you will attract to follow you.

At the end of the seminar, I also quoted some leaders on their thoughts about leadership. I only mentioned a few on the live seminar, but here is my complete list of leadership concepts, followed by appropriate quotes:

  1. Leadership is a privilege

“Strive not to be a success, but rather to be of value.” —Albert Einstein

  1. Leadership demands a compelling and inspiring message or cause

"Leaders think and talk about the solutions. Followers think and talk about the problems." --Brian Tracy

  1. Focus and clear goals are essential

“Build your own dreams, or someone else will hire you to build theirs.” —Farrah Gray
“All our dreams can come true if we have the courage to pursue them.” --Walt Disney

  1. Communicate clearly, simply and often

"Great leaders are almost always great simplifiers, who can cut through argument, debate, and doubt to offer a solution everybody can understand." --Colin Powell

  1. Use your network – seek out collabs and teamwork -- hire and build good, effective teams -- foster a culture of teamwork

"Treat people as if they were what they ought to be, and you help them become what they are capable of being." --Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

  1. Be accountable and transparent

“Truth never damages a cause that is just.” ― Mahatma Gandhi
“Sunlight is the best disinfectant.” ― William O. Douglas

  1. Give your people credit where it’s due and more, don’t hog the spotlight – balanced with humble acceptance of admiration

"A leader is best when people barely know he exists. When his work is done, his aim fulfilled, they will say: we did it ourselves." --Lao Tzu

  1. Live the qualities of humility, integrity, trust, truth and selflessness

"Do what you feel in your heart to be right, for you'll be criticized anyway." --Eleanor Roosevelt

  1. Have the courage to take risks, take responsibility, stand alone, speak out

"A true leader has the confidence to stand alone, the courage to make tough decisions, and the compassion to listen to the needs of others. He does not set out to be a leader, but becomes one by the equality of his actions and the integrity of his intent." --Douglas MacArthur

  1. Stay humble, move past/beyond ego, do what you gotta do

"The price of greatness is responsibility." --Winston Churchill

  1. Be willing to compromise and negotiate

“To handle yourself, use your head; to handle others, use your heart.” —Eleanor Roosevelt

  1. Always be learning, allow change and growth, be a lifelong learner; never stop being engaged and curious

"Leadership and learning are indispensable to each other." --John F. Kennedy

  1. Mentor and be mentored

"The growth and development of people is the highest calling of leadership." --Harvey S. Firestone

  1. Execute and take action

“The question isn’t who is going to let me; it’s who is going to stop me.” —Ayn Rand

  1. Be open and say yes all the time, be positive

Here's what Holistic Fashionista's CEO, Angel Quintana has to say about these seminars:

"Our Academy Seminar Instructors share what’s REALLY worked in their business…

Each instructor has a very different kind of business. From teaching CPR to being a stylist or selling a physical product or retreats, they each share one common theme:

What has worked for them in their business is drastically different than the other! So what does that really mean?

It means that NO two businesses are alike and a marketing strategy that works for one, may not necessarily work for another.

So instead of coercing you into drinking the Kool-Aid, we’d much rather serve you green juice.

So what do I mean by Kool-Aid anyway?

Kool-aid is over-hyped marketing strategies that promise you HUGE, unrealistic results in seconds.

In the internet marketing world, there are A LOT of people teaching “fluffy” stuff. They might give you 1 tool or 1 strategy on how to get ahead in your business, but you never get the whole story. That’s why we prefer Green Juice!

We like our marketing strategies to align with our brands and that means what works for one person won’t necessarily work for you.

What makes the Holistic Fashionista Academy Seminars event different?

• I PERSONALLY vouch for these individuals because I have worked with each of them to grow and expand their business. And most importantly, they are the REAL DEAL.

• I asked them to teach something that has made ALL the difference in growing their business (translation: they wouldn’t be where they are today without it)

This is a live seminar and when I say live I mean you will see our faces LIVE, in the flesh. (No editing. Just raw fuel for your business!)

• They are genuine. It’s hard to find out there when every five seconds someone is promoting how to build a 6-figure business in 5 minutes using Facebook ads and they literally have 30 likes on their page.

I don’t know about you, but here at Holistic Fashionista we are SICK and TIRED of the watered down mumbo jumbo that tastes like a sugary BS internet marketing scam.

Because after all, if it looks too good to be true, it probably is. Live and learn.

So, get ready for an event that is jam-packed with holistic business advice from an array of niche marketers who are here to show you, there is NO one way to build your business fast. There are LOTS of ways and we are going to talk about 10 of them during this event!

Do me one quick favor and share this event with someone you think is awesome! I’ve built my tribe of rad people because rad people attract rad people."

Friends are awesome, aren't they?? =)
