Now that you've gotten your thank-fullness juju and your creative juice boost for energy, productivity and self-confidence, I say it's time to move on and face the onrushing new year. I'm thinking some goal-setting for 2012 is in order. Who's with me?? No, wait a minute. Before we do that, let's take a moment to reflect. Yes, that's right, just stop. Turn around already. It is mid-December and the clock is tick-tock-ticking. The time is ripe to sit down and take stock. You know I'm right.
Why not grab a pen and paper and play with me?
Okay, we are going to do this with a POSITIVE spin. NO listening to the negative self-talkers in our heads. NO negative lists of all the stuff we DIDN'T get done. EFF that noise!!! We are taking the fun road. Here we go!
Take a look at one area of your life, an area you've been working on this year, even if you think you've hardly worked on it at all. That's right, you heard what I said, don't go scoffing at me. Every little bit counts.
Maybe you've been exercising to lose a little weight. Or you've been renovating part of your house. Taking a course at school, or trying to increase sales for your business. Have you been working hard to get noticed and get that raise? Or saving money for a trip to Paris?
Whatever it is or was, start with that one thing you have been working at the most. Now make a list of all the positive things related to this project that you have achieved in 2011. See how many things you can come up with. Go for ten! Ready? Set? GO!
Now, do the same thing for one or two other areas you've been working on this year. By the time you are finished, you will have a list of 25 or 30 concrete achievements for 2011. How cool is that??
Congratulations! Give yourself a pat on the back. Or a piece of chocolate. Or maybe book yourself a massage! Whatever you do, be sure to reward yourself. You've earned it.
